Walk your city. Open what's hidden.
GoBeep hides caches on pavements, paths and parks near you. You get no map: your phone turns into a detector that beeps faster as you close in.
How to play
Connect a wallet
Connect any Solana wallet. Its address becomes your hunter id, and a free signature proves the wallet is yours. You never type an email or a password.
Allow location
Open the detector on your phone outside and power it on. It hears caches up to 900 m away. A new hunter's first signal lands close.
Follow the beep
The arrow points at the signal, the number shows the distance, and the beep speeds up from a slow tick to a trill. The accuracy bar shows bad GPS honestly.
Hold still
Inside 15 m the ring turns into a lock. Stand on the spot for 20 seconds while it reads your position, and the cache opens.
What is inside
A find: an original object generated from the hour's seed, the cache number, the cache's block (its position rounded to three decimals, about 110 m) and your wallet. It belongs to one of six families and has a form, a number of facets, a pigment, inclusions, a glow and a tier.
Prisms
Faceted columns that grow alone or in clusters.
Needle · Twin · Cluster · Tablet · Scepter
Knots
One closed strand wound around itself.
Trefoil · Cinquefoil · Weave · Granny · Coil
Spires
Turned towers, stacked or twisted.
Obelisk · Pagoda · Helix · Bell · Lance
Halos
A core held inside one or more rings.
Band · Gyre · Armillary · Disc · Crown
Seeds
A shell with something suspended inside.
Pod · Pearl · Egg · Bean · Drop
Lattices
The bare frame of a solid, joints and struts.
Tetra · Cube · Octa · Dodeca · Icosa
Odds are per opened cache and fixed for Season 1. They never change inside a season and are never adjusted after the fact.
Fair by design
Every hour has a secret seed. Its fingerprint (the SHA-256 of the seed) is public before the hour starts, and the seed itself is published when the hour ends. A find is the SHA-256 of that seed, the cache number, the block and the wallet, read byte by byte. Anyone can rebuild every find of a closed hour on the stats page or on the find's own page, and get the same object.
Neither we nor you can pick who finds what. The server places caches on walkable paths near people who are out walking, and tells your phone only how far and which way. Even our database never holds a cache's point: the server derives it from a path segment and a key when it needs it.
House rules
One wallet per person.
The season adds up your best three days, so ten wallets leave you with ten weak scores.
Walk, bike, roll.
Feet, bicycles and wheelchairs are all fine. GPS-changing apps, joysticks, emulators and bots are not.
Look up at crossings.
Caches never land on roads, crossings, water or private ground, and at night only on lit paths. Your eyes still beat the app.
First to finish takes it.
One cache, one hunter. Reach it seconds after someone else opened it and you get 3 points for showing up.
25 finds a day.
Points taper after the 10th and the 20th find of the day, and the detector rests at 00:00 UTC.
What the lock checks
20 s of fixes
At least eight fixes over 20 seconds, each within ±25 m accuracy.
Believable spread
Real GPS jitters. A series tighter than 0.15 m is refused as synthetic; wider than 14 m is not standing still.
No jumps
Faster than 3 m/s between fixes restarts the lock. Between pings, faster than 14 m/s is flagged.
A walk between finds
The trip from your last find to this one has to be possible at walking or cycling speed.
All checks run on the server. Your phone sends a fix and gets back a distance and a bearing; the fix is used and dropped. Caches live about 2.5 hours and refill near people who are walking.
Rank and $BEEP
Before launch a find is worth rank and nothing else. Rank decides the snapshot, the snapshot opens a short early window at launch and a multiplier that stays lit while you hold the minimum. The details, and what is not promised, are on the $BEEP page and in the rules.
